Come and Sing Day

We are holding a FREE Come and Sing Football Anthems workshop for male voices on Saturday 15th September.   If you love ‘You’ll never walk alone’ and would like the opportunity to sing it in four-part harmony then this is the workshop for you.  We will also be singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ which became a favourite of The Royals in the record breaking 106 points season.

The workshop will start at 10am and will conclude with  an informal Performance of the songs at 4:30pm to which family and friends are invited.

What will it involve?

This is a harmony singing workshop for male voices where attendees will be learning and singing in four-part harmony, popular songs which have been adopted by clubs as football anthems.

The workshop will feature the well-known ballad ‘You’ll never walk alone’, which comes originally from the musical Carousel and was popularised in the 60’s by Liverpool’s Gerry Marsden before the Anfield Kop took it to its heart.

The workshop will also feature Neil Diamond’s pop classic ‘Sweet Caroline’ which became a favourite of Royals fans in the record breaking 106 points promotion season.

To get everyone in the mood the workshop will start with a fun, easy to learn version of the spiritual ‘When the Saints go marching in’.

How will the day be structured?

The outline programme for the day is as follows

10.45 Ensemble voice test
11.00 Break for tea/coffee
11.15 Session 1
12.30 Lunch
13 30 Session 2

14.45 Session 3

The timings of individual elements may change.

Do I need to have any singing experience?

No.  If you can hold a note, you’ll be fine.

Does it matter if I can’t read music?

No, no knowledge of music theory is required.

What should I bring with me?

Tea, coffee and squash will be available at the breaks but it is advisable to bring a water bottle as is it important to keep your vocal chords hydrated when singing. We recommend also that you bring a packed lunch with you.

Will there be sheet music?

Sheet music will be provided where required. 

Is there a car-park?

Yes there is car-parking.  The workshop will be held in the Canteen in the older part of Bulmershe School which is accessed from Chequers Way off of Howth Drive, Woodley.

Can I invite my family to the performance?

Yes. Your friends and family are welcome to come along to the performance of the songs.
